Soprano XL is predictable both in terms of effective results and minimal risk of side effects, coupled with the comfortable delivery of the treatment make Soprano XL the only choice for black or dark skin types. Does the unwanted hair fall out right away?

The treated anagen hair usually drops out 2 to 3 weeks after treatment.

Will there be any redness or discomfort after treatment?

Side effects are rare and transient, minimal warmth or redness or none at all. If the skin is pink or red after treatment, this usually resolves within minutes or at most within a day or so. Sensitive skin usually tolerates the Soprano XL treatment well with no side effects, however if redness occurs it is temporary and resolves quickly (varying with individuals). All lasers present a risk of burning and blistering to the skin however with the Soprano XL these risks are reduced more than ever before possible with lasers. The Soprano XL new patented technology allows for maximum efficiency and yet with more safety and less risk of side effects than ever before possible.

Can I wear make up on the treatment area?

Yes you can wear make up before your treatment, remove it in the clinic and reapply it straight after treatment if you wish.

How do I remove hair in-between laser hair removal treatments?

Shaving is the preferred method. Do not pluck or wax or electrolysis as this will compromise your treatment plan.

How often do I have treatment?

For the face we find that 4 – 6 weeks apart, or even 7-8 weeks when much of the hair is gone, gives the best results. For the body, the hair is slower growing and usually 8 – 12 weeks apart works very well. The first couple of treatments may be 6 -8 weeks apart then progressively increasing to 9 – 12 weeks as the hair growth slows due to treatment.

What is anagen hair?

Hair grows in cycles called Anagen, Catagen and Telogen. The anagen hair is the active or growing hair which is attached to the blood supply in the follicle. The other 2 stages are shedding and resting. Only the anagen hair can be effectively, permanently destroyed during laser hair removal which is why having your treatments at certain intervals is required, in order to destroy the follicles entering the anagen stage.

How does soprano XL work?

Light from the Soprano XL laser is delivered gently and safely to the hair root, being absorbed there, heating the root to 45c and damaging or destroying the base of the follicle and sealing the capillaries so that it can no longer produce more hair.

Do I need to prepare my skin for Soprano XL treatment?

Yes, it is extremely helpful if the area to be treated is shaved on the day or the day before. (For the face it is best if the area is shaved on the day of treatment if possible.) Make sure the skin is clean from creams, perfume and false tanning products. Make sure all false tan is completely washed off. Avoid using certain products such as retinoid cream and steroid creams on the area. Ask you doctor, nurse or therapist about the products you are using. Avoid tanning or prolonged UV exposure on the area to be treated for at least 1 month prior to treatment (includes sunbeds). Avoid false tan before treatments as it will not was off in time for your session and you may be refused treatment.

Can blonde, red and even fine hair be treated?

Your hair will be assessed at a free consultation and a patch test may be given to determine the effect for your hair colour. White hair can not be effectively removed with any laser and other colurs such as blonde and some red colours can prove difficult to treat with laser. Medaline can help to improve the lasers results and all of this can be discussed at length at your free consultation. The new technology of the Soprano XL means that fine hair and hair colours that have proven unsuccessful with other lasers can respond to the Soprano XL so it is advisable to have a patch test. Older lasers are less effective than Soprano XL mainly because they target the skin with high fluence (heat energy) causing burning and sometimes scarring, this is even more of a risk when treating light or fine hair.Unlike these older types of laser and IPL systems, the Soprano XL can deliver high energy (fluence)without excessively heating the surrounding skin.

Are large areas done in 1 session?

Yes usually. Speed, comfort and ease are a huge advantage of the soprano XL. Torso, back, legs, arms, chest etc. takes about 30 – 60 minutes for each area. 2 hours does the full body.
